Does God Care?

One thing that we must understand is that God desires for us to be healthy.

“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” 3 John 2

“I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.” Deuteronomy 30:19

God wants you to live and be healthy. But my question is, why are we so sick? Millions of people are suffering from disease and many are on many different types of medications. Even those who go to church are suffering from these same diseases. Why does God allow this to happen?

It would do us good to get to the bottom of this.

“Disease is an effort of nature to free the system from conditions that result from a violation of the laws of health. In case of sickness, the cause should be ascertained.” – Ministry
of Healing page 127

In this quote we see 3 things:

1. Disease is not our enemy but a friend. Disease lets us know that there is a problem, and the body is making an effort to correct the issue.
2. Sickness is a result of violating the laws of health.
3. We should find out the cause of our sickness.
(For example: don’t just treat the headache, find out why you have the headache).

The best way to find out the cause is to let God tell us.
“As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come.” (Proverbs 26:2)
A disease is a curse (read Deuteronomy 28) there is a reason why it came. We must not be satisfied with just knowing that we have a disease.
Job said, “ I was a father to the poor: and the cause which I knew not I searched out.” (Job 29:16)
Job wanted to get to the bottom of why he was in the position he was in. He searched out the cause.

3 John 2 states, “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”
Our heath is supposed to prosper the same way our soul prospers. In order to find out how to prosper in health, we must find out how our soul prospers.
“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” (Joshua 1:8)
“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” (Psalms 1:1-3)
How is it that our souls (us, as human beings (Genesis 2:7)) prosper? We prosper by obeying God’s law. If we violate God’s law we will suffer the consequences. There are laws all around us: laws of gravity, civil laws, laws of nature, and also laws of health. If we break any of these laws we will pay the penalty.
Disease never comes without a cause. It is always invited by disregarding the laws of health. Hereditary diseases were caused by the violation of physical laws by our ancestors. We can often correct even the hereditary conditions by obedience to the laws of nature.
Cause to effect: If we put something into our bodies or do something to hurt our bodies that defy the law of the body, it will suffer. God has also given us laws to govern our health and if we disobey those laws…. Well, read for yourself.
“….If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the Lord that healeth thee.” (Exodus 15:26)
What are some of the diseases that the Egyptian suffered from?
Deuteronomy 28
1. Consumption (tuberculosis, emphysema)
2. Fever (chills, shivering Fits)
3. Inflammation (arthritis)
4. The Botch (chicken pox, hives, and all other skin related disease) 5.
Emerods (tumors, cancers)
These are the same things that many of us suffer from today.
Health is the result of obedience to the laws of God. God promised to keep us free from disease if we are obedient to His plan.
“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”
Galatians 6:7

God has given us 8 laws of health to govern us on how to be good stewards of His temple. We talk about these 8 laws toward the end of this book.
There are 3 reasons why we get sick. The first 2 are one in the same.
1. Violation of spiritual laws (John 5:5-8,14) 2. Violation of physical laws (Ezekiel 16:49) 3. For the glory of God (John 9:1-3)
It is up to you to seek God to find out which one you fall under. Sadly, a large percentage of the time, it is because of the disobedience to God’s laws. Jesus always led the people to acknowledge their sins when healing them. Repentance and healing go hand in hand.
➢• God desires for us to be in good health and have life more
➢• Disease is not an enemy but a friend
➢• Disease does not come without a cause
➢• Ascertain the cause of the disease
➢• Correct the cause
➢• We bring disease upon our self by disobeying God’s laws
➢• Confess your sins to God and repent
➢• We can then continue be in good health by obeying God’s laws
